Welcome to our new newsletter!A note from the founders Hey Climate Designers! We’re excited to share with you our new and improved monthly newsletter. We’ve been quiet this year as we focus on internal operations and long term planning. While most of the work we’re currently doing isn’t visible externally, we have a number of projects happening behind the scenes. The latest of these is this refreshed newsletter, designed to highlight the incredible work of our team, the larger Climate Designers community, and that of designers across the world innovating at the intersection of Design and Climate. Our goal is to create a space to highlight topics we care about that we do not see covered as often in mainstream Design and Climate conversations. We are focused on regenerative, equitable solutions, and questioning the role of the design within our existing industries. We recognize that design played a part in creating the climate crisis, and are looking beyond incremental improvements towards the larger systems change we need to enable a climate positive future. This newsletter will be an evolving format as we see what resonates with you. Let us know what you think and what you’d like to see more of in the future by submitting your feedback here. 🙂 Enjoy! Marc & Natalie Creating season 4 of Climify has been an absolute joy, thanks to our fantastic team. We've discovered that while changing the system can be a daunting task, it’s best tackled through small, localized interventions. The magic happens when you visualize how the system operates and identify the most connected areas to target. We also learned that protest and corporate advocacy are two sides of the same coin—both essential for driving meaningful change. Plus, we’ve highlighted the importance of integrating generational knowledge and a commitment to decolonization into our future actions. Together, these elements can help us build a more equitable and just society. Join us for the finale, where we celebrate the journey and look ahead to inspiring change! If you haven't listened to the season yet, here are three amazing episodes to get you excited about the rest!
Alicia Storie: The House of WellbeingVolunteer Spotlight Alicia Storie leads the Climate Designers UK Hub, and is the founder of ADesignStorie, a multi-award winning sustainability-focused interior design studio. She creates diverse projects ranging from tiny homes to yoga studios. Each project is crafted with a biophilic approach inspired by the local landscape. Alicia recently presented The House of Wellbeing at Dundee Design Festival in Scotland, set to be the world's most sustainable festival. Her installation included two tiny timber structures designed to showcase biophilic design and innovative sustainable materials, and featured elements included CO2-absorbing paint and seaweed-based lighting. The installation’s Future Materials Table invited visitors to explore 51 biomaterials—such as seaweed bioplastics, paper pulp, and coffee leather—highlighting their potential applications in sustainable interiors.
