Climate Designers Monthly: Create What's Next With Us

Hey Climate Designers,

As we enter 2026, we are reflecting on where we’ve been and where we’re going.

For those who might be new here, we’d like to take a moment to re-introduce ourselves. We launched in 2019 with a mission to empower designers to learn, connect, and act on climate. We bring all design disciplines together with the goal of fundamentally reshaping the design industry to put climate at the core of every designer’s work.

Over the years we've run virtual summits, in-person design sprints, online courses, and built a global community of designers taking climate action both online and offline. Today, we have global Chapters, online meetups, and a number of media projects.

We are currently looking ahead and planning what's next for the organization. And we need your help!

Climate Designers has always been co-created with our community, and we want to understand how we can best support you at this moment on your climate design journey.

We’d greatly appreciate your thoughts via our 10-15 minute survey. All questions are optional, and even if you only have 5 minutes we'd love to hear from you. All survey participants will be sent free access to paid members only content and be entered in a giveaway for one of five $25 gift cards. The survey will be open until the end of February.

We can't emphasize enough how much your input matters. High participation means better programming for you. Your input directly shapes what we build next.

Help us keep this party going!

Last year we ran our first fundraiser. We made good progress, but are still short of our goal to cover expenses for this year. Can you help us make it to 100%?

If you value what we do, consider giving the gift of a few dollars each month to allow this organization to continue operation. As our thanks, one-time donors of $50+ and monthly donors of $5+ will receive access to members-only content and our deepest gratitude.

Sustainability Struggles Online Meetup on February 4th

A space where designers working in the sustainability/climate space can share what's actually working and what's not.

Real wins, real failures, real breakthroughs that move the design industry forward.

This is for anyone doing climate work in design: mid-career pivot, veteran practitioner, currently in the trenches. Your experience is the foundation someone else needs.

For those who joined previous events, we’re changing up the format. Be sure to attend our FEB event to experience the new Successes & Struggles.

Community Highlights

Brian Stancheski launches SomethingBigger Podcast

Brian is a Climate Designers NYC Chapter lead and runs bggr cr8v studio. He just launched SomethingBigger, a podcast that challenges the status quo and empowers you to create real, lasting change. It explores how business, lifestyle, and sustainability intersect with actionable insights to help you live and build with purpose. Discover your alter ego—and join in creating something bigger.

“A huge theme this year at Climate Week NYC was the need for storytellers. I had been working on a podcast idea for a while, but never got around to producing anything. I knew this was the time to take off. Rooted in sustainability, Something Bigger was created to examine how systems and design quietly shape the world around us. Season One focuses on connecting dots across disciplines, tracing invisible threads between things rarely discussed together while highlighting other connections that are impossible to ignore. The first eight episodes are short thought pieces designed to push current assumptions, expand awareness, and encourage a mindset of thinking bigger. We invite you to join us as we work toward building something bigger together.” - Brian Stancheski, NYC Chapter Lead

Climate Shifted nominated for the Ambies!

Eva Frye is part of the Climate Designers community, and launched Climate Shifted last year to share breakthrough insights from psychologists, behavior designers, artists and creative movement builders on what's working to get people to act on climate. Congrats to their team for being nominated for best DIY Podcast at the Ambies!

Community Spotlight: Barella Roberson

We’re excited to kick off our Community Spotlights by featuring Barella Roberson.

Barella built her career in New York City’s beauty industry, where she worked in strategic marketing leading design initiatives, launching campaigns, and managing events. While in the industry, Barella began researching product ingredients and discovered that many beauty products are harmful to human health and the environment. This realization led her to leave the industry, pursue her MBA concentrating in sustainability, and launch her boutique ethical consulting agency, Copy, Color & Cause, where she helps founders, creatives, activists, and executives center social and environmental impact in marketing and operations.

She is currently relocating to Washington DC, where she trains volunteers to advocate for legislation banning toxic ingredients in beauty products and will be focusing on systemic approaches to this issue area.

2025 Reflections

Hey Climate Designers, As we close out 2025, this message is a short one. This year has hit every region of the world differently, but for many it has been a time of upheaval and change. Traditionally winter was a time of quiet, recuperation, and preparation for the year ahead. These natural cycles are difficult to honor in our current paradigm, but there is much value in creating the spaciousness needed to reflect and make thoughtful intentions for the year to come. Or to simply do nothing....

Consumption

Hey Climate Designers, Before getting into this month's issue, this is your friendly reminder that we are 100% volunteer-led and operate on a shoestring. We are running a fundraiser right now to cover our modest costs for the year and are almost 50% of the way there. Help us get to 100% so we can continue doing what we do. As our thanks, one-time donors of $50+ and monthly donors of $5+ will receive a copy of the Field Guide to Climate Design ebook (more on it below), access to members-only...
